Some ideas for weekend fun

Paddle up Break out that boat on Sunday to participate in the Fifth Annual LoopFest at Lock 60, Locktender’s House, 400 Towpath Road, Mont Clare, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy a fun day out on the water paddling the 5-mile water trail loop starting and ending at Lock 60. Upon arriving back to Lock 60, experience locking through the 1846 restored lock before getting out of the water for the day. Bring your own boat, with all the necessary safety equipment or make arrangements to rent one from the Port Providence Paddle, www.canoeandkayak.biz, ahead of time and it will be waiting for you at Lock 60 by 11 a.m. This is for all ages; however, children 16 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Mr. Easter Bunny An Easter egg hunt and spring nature program will take place on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Road, Birdsboro. Enjoy a day full of fun, including face painting, 18th century toys and games, a sheep-naming contest, egg races and a Pennsylvania German Easter Tree. This event is $4 for children 14 and under and free for adults. Please bring a basket to collect eggs. Listen up • The Allentown Symphony Orchestra presents “The Titan” on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. in Allentown Symphony Hall, 23 North 6th St., Allentown. Double your listening pleasure with Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos featuring Allentown native and Los Angeles Philharmonic’s principal keyboardist Joanne Pearce Martin and Gavin Martin performing side-by-side on this season finale performance. Tickets range from $25-$45. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. • The William Center for the Arts at Lafayette College, 317 Hamilton Street, Easton, presents the Venice Baroque Orchestra with violinist Giuliano Carmignola on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased at the door or online at http://www.lafayette.edu/. Artsy fun Studio B will host its third annual eco-inspired juried art exhibit, this year titled “GREEN: not just a color.” The show will open with a reception and awards presentation from 5-8 p.m. Friday. The exhibit runs until May 14. Gallery hours are Thursday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Studio B is at 39A E. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown. Entrance is free. Pooch lovers In celebration of FDR’s famous Scottie dog Fala, kick off National Park Week with a day of “doggie” fun at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, 2 Mark Bird Lane, Elverson, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free activities will focus on getting out with your pooch and enjoying the outdoors. Pets must be leashed and visitors are expected to clean up after them. Happy blues On Sunday from 2-6 p.m., join the Bucks County Blues Society as they present Spring Fever Footstomper 2011 at the Terchon VFW, Airport and Hardy roads, Edgely. The evening will feature Rick Estrin and the Nightcats. A $25 donation gets you hot sandwiches, munchies and door prizes. You must be 21 years or older to attend this event. Cash bar only, no BYOB. Save a baby March for Babies is the March of Dimes fundraising event that benefits all babies and has raised more than $1.6 billion since 1970. It is the original walking event, raising money to fund important research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and give hope to the families of babies born too soon or sick. This year’s walk is Sunday, on the Ocean City Boardwalk, with registration at noon and the walk at 1 p.m. Registration forms are at your local Kmart or online at www.marchforbabies.org.
