Home of the brave

- The Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans' 25th annual Donald W. Jones Flag Memorial weekend features a free concert Saturday, a motorcycle rally Sunday, and moments for reflection both days, in Falls Township Park, 9072 Mill Creek Road. The concert with Angry Vic, Band Kamp, Blue Reign, Classic Jurassic, Final Warning, Jayded, Jekyll's Hyde, Legend, Mikey Junior and Queen Helene starts at noon Saturday. A memorial service and repatriation ceremony, where 58,000 flags will be placed in the ground for the Americans killed or missing in action in Vietnam, starts at 1. - Vettes for Vets American Dream Corvette Club honors our veterans with Corvettes on display, water ice and soft pretzels, and a visit from the Phillie Phanatic from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Southeastern Veterans Center, 1 Veterans Drive, Spring City. Festival atmosphere

- The Billtown Blues Festival happens noon to 10 p.m. Sunday at the Lycoming Country Fairgrounds, 300 E. Lycoming St., Hughsville. On the bill are Miz Ida & The All-Nightas, Tas Cru, Billy Gibson and Dave Fields, Debbie Davies and Robin Rogers, Big Bill Morganfield, Ana Popovic, Big Jack Johnson and the Cornlickers, plus an acoustic tent and a kids harmonica workshop. - "In and Out of the Garden We Go," a celebration of the music of The Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia, starts at noon Saturday at Snipes Farm, 890 W. Bridge St., Morrisville. Featured artists are Star 69, Acoustic Pangea, Old and in the Way, Steal Your Face, Toni Brown, Reflections, Dead Bolt and Only Footprints. Yesteryear

A traditional Victorian Fair is held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., Cape May, N.J. The day features live musical performances, crafts, collectibles, living history characters, children's activities and refreshments. Hagley's Creek Kids presents "Gunpowder in American History" from 1 to 4 p.m. June 15 and 20 at Hagley Museum and Library, Route 141, Wilmington, Del. The days will feature activities such as 19th century marching and drilling exercises, making "funpowder" (edible black powder), and decorating gunpowder kegs. A saluting cannon will be fired at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Families can sign up for an apprenticeship in the machine shop and try riveting, making a medallion, and threading a hole. In the Powder Yard, enjoy homemade ice cream (cranked on site) and scones baked in the Gibbons House kitchen. The Creek Kids will also lead walking tours of the gunpowder-making dioramas in the Millwright Shop. Showbiz survivor

Tim Conway (who even children will recognize as the voice of Barnacle Boy on "SpongeBob SquarePants") brings his "Tim Conway & Friends" show to the American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster. Show times are 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $69. Call (800) 648-4102.

Gushing forth

A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dam release, an anticipated event for paddlers, is planned for this weekend from the Francis Walter Dam, about seven miles upstream from White Haven and Lehigh Gorge State Park. Films, friends, food

The Southside Film Festival takes place June 15-19 at various venues on the south side of Bethlehem. Many of the highlighted independent films are from China, Japan and Korea, and the horror genre.
